CFCs
CFCs or Chlorofluorocarbons are chemical compounds containing chlorine, fluorine and carbon.
If released into the air, they are known to rise high into the atmosphere where they chemically break down ozone molecules in the ozone layer.

Before being banned as a result of international agreements, CFCs were widely used in fridges, as propellants in spray cans and in cleaning chemicals.
