Station: Carbon Knowledge

Question: How much do you know about Carbon emissions?

Carbon FootprintBackground:

  • Each of us is responsible (directly or indirectly) for carbon emissions and this is known as our CARBON FOOTPRINT.
  • People, homes, businesses and even countries can calculate their own carbon footprint.
  • It is the total amount of Carbon Dioxide emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels as the person or business engages in everyday activities.
  • It is often expressed as tonnes of carbon dioxide or tonnes of carbon emitted, usually on a yearly basis.

You'll need to visit all the stations on the Carbon Express to calculate your own Carbon Footprint.

Activity Before you start your Journey

How aware or knowledgeable are you about these issues. Test yourself by trying out the following ‘awareness quizzes’. They only take 5 minutes each.

    1. MyFootprint eco-footprint quiz
    2. Channel 4 Global Warming Quiz
    3. BP Carbon Calculator Quiz

AFTERWARDS - How did you do in the quizes?

Complete this AFTER you've had a go at the carbon quizes listed below left.
I know virtually nothing
I know a little
I know some bits but not others
I know most of it
I know a lot about the issues

Now travel on to the next station: CARBON FACTS.
Here you will find out that not everyone agrees about CARBON emissions.
